Lake Balaton Postcard
I decided to create a postcard for Lake Balaton, located in western Hungary. Known for it’s vineyards and sailboats, Lake Balaton is a popular Central European destination for a relaxing getaway.
Project Overview: The goal of this project is to design and illustrate a postcard based on a personal “happy place.” My family is from Hungary, and visiting Lake Balaton as a child is one of my favorite memories.

Below is an earlier version of my postcard with a different type treatment for the postcard’s title and additional information on the back of the card.
Challenge: Designing a postcard with a vintage or retro feel! One way I rectified this was by choosing the sans-serif typeface Minerva Modern. It has a little more character than my original choice of the Avenir typeface. Another challenge was designing the back of the postcard with enough space for someone to feel comfortable writing as much as they want.
